Cassie Stuurman is a signal analysis engineer, geophysicist, and researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Her work focuses on radar remote sensing of water and ice, combining expertise in SAR/InSAR data processing, radar sounding, and surface elevation modeling. She has contributed to both Earth science and planetary missions and research, including the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission and the SHARAD instrument on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

Cassie’s broader interests lie in applying systems thinking to complex geophysical problems — whether monitoring glacial melt’s impact on river systems or developing tools to better understand freshwater resources in a changing climate. Beyond her research, she brings the same curiosity and design mindset to collaborative projects that explore the intersections of science, engineering, creativity, and community.
